Passion [0]

What is it about youth and passion? Why is it that young people seem so much more passionate than others? Is it that as we get older, or should I say as we mature, we no longer have the energy, (not merely physically but mentally) we loose the desire? Have our desires been fulfilled? With age/maturity do we tend to plan prepare and organize our pursuits in such away that they lose their spontaneity and therefore seem to be less passionate? Is passion spontaneous or can it be otherwise?

Passion – depending on the dictionary you look at, has a number of meanings. The pair I checked, had the same first meaning – the sufferings of Christ Jesus between the night of the last super and His death. The second makes reference to an oratorio or oration based on the actual gospel accounts of this same time period. Interesting that the first few definitions have to do with God’s Son, our Lord Jesus. Only when you get down to the third and fourth definitions do we hear about emotions, feelings, love, ardent affections, and the like.

Let me tell you about a passionate young man that I have known for awhile. I’ve heard him speak several times. I have seen and heard about the activities he is about, all well intentioned and focused on one thing. The sharing of God’s Good News, God’s Word, God’s Son, Jesus Christ.

I had the occasion to hear him speak Sunday afternoon. It was an incredible thing to hear the passion (strong emotion, and love) in his voice as he proclaimed the Word of God through the power of the Holy Spirit present within him. He talked of the group he was working with at the church called “@patmos“. For it was on the Isle of Patmos that John received and wrote of the great and wonderful revelation, he received of God. This Young Man explained the significance of the name and the desire, prayers, hopes, dare I say again the passion, for the children and young adults, that they might also receive a life changing revelation of God. As they gathered and shared their lives in Christ Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, their lives would be changed and that all those that saw and heard Christ in them would also be changed.

I for one, will continue to watch, listen and pray that God continues to bless this Young man and as God does this (thank You God ), those he comes in contact with (me), will share in the blessings that spill out of his cup, that overflows with God’s grace and love. Many blessings to you, Lance and Amanda, as you move on in God’s will, your life’s ministry, blessings, blessings and more blessings.
