Presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ through Song, Word and Testimony

Passion Two [0]

A month or so ago, I asked a bunch of questions, somewhat rhetorically, but nonetheless I asked them. They had to do with passion. Who has it? And some of the Whys? I didn’t answer any of the questions, but I gave an example of a young man that has passion and he shows it. I would like to go back now and talk more about passion, not that I have the answers, but in talking some may gain some insight, clarity, maybe even some knowledge.

Do you have a PASSION? Is there something in your life that you care passionately about? Is it some thing you can share with others. Is it some thing that you just do? Let us view these questions against the teachings or at least my understanding of the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Where is your heart? Do you have a treasure? Can you share it with others?

Mt 6:21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

Is there something in your life that you mention to everyone you meet? Is it so well known about you that when you run into acquaintances and friends, they ask about it? What is it, family, children, grandchildren, sports, politics, God, weather, work? Do you have a hobby? Does it consume your time? Is it your treasure? I ask again do you have a passion/treasure, or do you spend your time your life in moderation in the mundain, niether hot or cold?

Re 3:15“‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were cold or hot! (I suggest you read chapter three to the end 15-22)

A brief editorial, there are very few people that have a passion that they are willing to share. Think about it. How many folks do you know, that fall into the following category? Here comes so-and -so, I’m going to have to listen to them talk about thus-and-so. You try and avoid bringing up the subject. Now I know that there are folks like this but are they really passionate or are they whiners and complainers. Still thinking about it, I can think of a couple. There is one fellow that is a right wing conservative. You really hate to bring politics up when he is around, because he has some very strong and passionate views regarding the right and his country. A concern and I think that this is where we need to start getting serious, is that if you do not share the passion. If you do not have any knowledge about the passion or subject you tend to feel uncomfortable even listening about it.

What is your passion? Do you have a passion? Is it God? If not why not? Aren’t we required to put God first? Is God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit your passion? Why not? Why don’t we have the knowledge about our God? Why don’t we have the knowledge about our Jesus? Why do we feel uncomfortable talking about and sharing our passion for the Lord Jesus Christ? If He is in fact our passion.

1) We don’t have that type of relationship in our lives. Not just with God and Jesus, but with anyone or anything.

2) We feel guilty because as we profess our Christianity, we are not really Christians. We say it with our lips but we do not say it with our hearts. We feel we don’t have the knowledge. (Knowledge – I’m not talking about chapter and verse I’m talking about knowing that God is our all in all. That Jesus is our Savior and that the Holy Spirit is in your heart and life to the point that no one or nothing can take it from you. I know that I know because, I know.) We haven’t empty ourselves and allowed God in. Our passion, our treasure, our hearts are not in it. We don’t have the relationship.

3) We feel that it is personal and we don’t want to share it. Sounds selfish, again we don‘t have it to share.

4) We claim that we are not like that, it’s not my personality or my style. If you had a relationship, the knowledge, the passion, wouldn’t you through the power, grace and love of God, in the Holy Spirit share it. Isn’t that what we are called to do? Wouldn’t people be able to see the Light of God shining through you and about you, in everything you do?

5) That is not my gift. I’m not saying that we should all stand on the street corner, get ourselves behind a pulpit, radio, TV, in a ministry, but we should be able to share what we have with those we come in contact with. Again, they would have seen or felt the passion. Do we have it?

6) Are we seeking opportunities or do we shy away from them? We should be about the Lord’s work, let me make it clear that it should be God’s will and work, not ours, ( This will be a future rambling, God’s will and work in our passion/lives. ) each and everyday, every moment, every breath. If we were in a Bible study, Seminar, Class or dare I say it, “the proper setting“. When the question is asked I believe that most of us would respond in the proper manner. God is first on our list, above family and all else, and that we should be about His work. If we know this, then why don’t we do it? We do not even listen to our own hearts and obey? Trust our hearts to God, our treasure that is God, to God, to use and to do with as He wills.

Pray to the Lord God, Mighty God, Powerful and Loving God that your heart, your treasure, your passion would be fulfilled in the Lord Jesus Christ, in the Spirit of God. I pray this for you, I call on my God, the Awesome God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, that the Spirit would in fill you, bless you with the loving relationship, that you would be blessed beyond all measure (Luke 6:38a good measure–pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.”) and that your knowledge would be unshakeable and that you could with out fear, (God commands us to “Fear Not”) for God, in God, be passionate, sharing what He has done for you. I ask this in the Father, Son and through the Holy Spirit, Lord, let it be so.
