Goshen ongoing [0]
Kris, Lou and I went to Goshen, Ohio over this past weekend to the Midwest Southern Gospel Talent Search, sponsored by a Southern Gospel group called “Growing in Grace” It was their Homecoming 2005 and it was quite an experience. We spent two nights in a motor lodge together, twenty-four three. We drove over 600 miles in the van, and we had a chance to share our ministry with two Churches on the way back. What a blessing!
Saturday, August 13, 2005, Goshen Ohio, up early wandering the parking lot of the Motor Lodge, drinking coffee, praying and marveling in God’s GLORIOUS handy work, (sunrise). We dressed and left for the Goshen High School, where the Talent Search was to be held. God bless Lou, his body was rebelling. We were all very excited to have the opportunity to display our ministerial skills and to be told constructively how we compared to the standard, here again that would be the judges’ standards. Although that did not happen quite the way we had hoped (we were disappointed not so much in what they said but in what they didn’t say) there was little or no constructive comments. Throughout the day we continually prayed and talked of how we needed only to present ourselves to the Lord and allow Him to work His will through us in the power of the Holy Spirit. The excitement, the anticipation, the sweet joy of being in the presence of the Lord, ALLELUIA!!
We met many very nice people, Joyce McGlone sat in front of us and we talked during the breaks, a wonderful woman, who lived near by. The Search started at 11:00 am. We also talked and had our picture taken with the North Carolina group called “Journey ’n Faith” (see the download pictures). It just so happened that we went out to the Subway (which was air-conditioned) to have dinner and they pulled in also and since we were the only customersin the place the seven of us had a very nice chat and dinner with one another. Both Joyce as a soloist and the group Journey ’n Faith were finalists, neither won. We also met Growing in Grace. Again a very nice group of folks. Rod the tenor, could sing and sing and sing some more. The whole day was actually pretty darn great. A tremendous blessing from God. Our performance, went well at least according to us. God was good to us.
I’ll try and talk more about Sunday and our trip home as soon as I can.
