  1. Kris (Chalice) UNITED STATES says:

Woke up this morning to a few flurries and while we were packing to leave the flurries got a little heavier. We weren’t sure what to expect when we got to Point Marion, knowing it was about 1.5 hours away and in a higher elevation from McKeesport. But we pressed on.

The light snowfall never stopped the whole way there and we even ran into a few slick roads but Restored Ministries was planning the event snow or shine. So we tried to dress warm knowing it would probably be cold, which it was — only 30 degrees!

We arrived a little early so we’d have time to set up our stuff, including the puppet stuff, but because of the weather and how wet it was we decided not to use any of our equipment, not even our instruments. And it’s impossible to set up the puppet stuff when it’s wet so we were not able to do that part at all. Pastors John and Janet were very understanding and appreciated our effort.

They were running a bit behind in setting things up because of the snow and a slight electrical problem. (The city’s electrician was supposed to hook up electric for them but he was called out on a fire call. A local neighbor was gracious to let them use their electric till the electrician could get back,)

So we went to a local coffee shop across the street to kill a little time and get warm.

After a short time we went back over to see how things were transpiring. Still no electric for the sound system. Knowing Gary and Keith both had other commitments for the evening and were only able to stay a short time we decided to brave the weather and sing acapella. We ended up singing about a half hour till my poor feet were frozen.

We headed back home after saying our “goodbyes” and getting lots of hugs. Pastor Janet said they would surely have us back in the spring.

We made it home safe and sound. On the 11 o’clock news I heard about a bridge nearby that had an 8 car pile-up this evening. Thank you God for watching over us today and getting us home safe and sound!

Lou and I were pretty tired especially after being out singing late last night. I’m sure Gary and Keith were tired too. Whoopee! We get to do it again tomorrow!
