Read some FunFacts about Gary!

In July 2001 “Chalice” added Gary Coddington of McKeesport. Gary typically sings the bass part but is featured as the lead on several songs. He usually plays the electric guitar but occasionally brings out his 12 string acoustic. His wonderful lead guitar playing is featured on many songs.

Gary has been playing guitar since he was 11 years old and learned to play “by ear” without any formal instruction. He started playing professionally in 1966 for a Polka Band that later changed to an Oldies Band. Since 1996 he has been playing with “Little John and the ATM Band.” Gary also has been a D.J. for more than 28 years.

He has been a member of Holy Family Parish for about 18 years and has been involved in their Youth Ministry and the Parish Board.

Gary has been married to Stephanie for 28 years; they are the parents of three children, Jessie, Amanda, and Evan.

Gary was introduced to Chalice when his daughter, Amanda, began dating the Rhoades’ oldest son, Lance. Amanda began as a volunteer for the ministry in October 2000 by helping behind the stage at many puppet shows and at the information table.

At that time, Chalice was leading worship for CanTeen Youth Ministries that Lance and Mandi were leading. As a concerned father, Gary wanted to investigate this new ministry his daughter was involved with and began playing his guitar for the worship part of the service. His wonderful guitar playing was such an added feature that he was asked to join Chalice on a regular basis.

In May 2004 Lance and Mandi were married and the Rhoades and Coddingtons became officially family. In September 2008 Lance and Mandi blessed the family with a granddaughter, Selah.
